「まずは、部屋に一枚、絵を飾ってみてほしい」。そう話すのは、香南市にアトリエを構えるアーティスト・上村菜々子さん。私たちの暮らしの中に、そっとアートを差し出してくれるような人です。
幼いころから絵を描くのが好きだった上村さん。大阪と東京の芸術大学で油絵を学び、その後は東京で中学校の美術教師に。教壇に立ちながらも、創作活動は続けていました。学生時代に生み出した独自技法「蜜蝋版画」は、「錆や傷、埃っぽさが好きで、蜜蝋で表現したらしっくりきた」と話します。
2019年、高知にUターン。美術教育に携わりたいという思いから、地域おこし協力隊として馬路村に移住しました。そこでの自然の光に包まれる日々が、モノクロの絵を好んで描いていた上村さんの絵に色をもたらしました。
現在は、夫やその家族の協力もあり、子育てをしながらも本格的に作家活動に打ち込んでいます。最近では陶芸もはじめ、自作の器に絵を描くなど、表現の幅も広がっています。
「自分の表現のルーツは高知にあります。だからこそ、この土地で絵をもっと楽しむ人が増える活動をしていきたい」。上村さんの描くアートのある暮らし、その一枚が、誰かの毎日をちょっと変えてくれるかもしれません。

　すでに制作していた「金のシリーズ」の小さいものを作りたいと始めたのが、「drawing－KINsp」。壁に掛けたり、棚の上に置いたり、何枚も飾ったりといろいろ楽しめる10×10cmのサイズです。このシリーズは上村さんの日々の暮らしを描いたもの。その日にあった人、感じたことが日記のように表現されています。金色のインクを使っているのは、光に反射して見る角度によって絵の表情が変化する楽しみがあるから。

Nanako Kamimura has loved to draw pictures since she was a child. After studying oil painting at art universities in Osaka and Tokyo, she became an art teacher at a junior high school in Tokyo. While teaching, he continued his creative activities. He says, “I like rust, scratches, and dustiness, and when I expressed them with beeswax, it felt right” for his original technique, “beeswax printmaking,” which he created while still a student.

In 2019, he will make a U-turn to Kochi. Wanting to be involved in art education, he moved to Umaji Village as a Regional Development Cooperation Volunteer. The days surrounded by natural light there brought color to Kamimura's paintings, which she used to prefer in monochrome.

Now, with the support of her husband and family, she is raising her children and pursuing her art career in earnest. Recently, she has also taken up ceramics and has broadened her range of expression by painting on vessels of her own making.
My roots of expression are in Kochi. That is why I would like to engage in activities to increase the number of people who enjoy painting in this area. A piece of Kamimura's life with art may change someone's everyday life.

　I started “drawing-KINsp” to create smaller versions of the “gold series” that I had already produced. It is 10 x 10 cm in size and can be hung on the wall, placed on a shelf, or displayed as many times as you like. This series depicts Kamimura's daily life. The people he met and the things he felt on that day are expressed like a diary. Gold ink is used because of the enjoyment of the picture's expression changing depending on the angle from which it is viewed as it reflects the light.
